So I have this idea for a community-ish feature that I wanted to try out. It's a competition feature that actually uses written blogs. The basic idea comes from some other blogs features and posts I've seen before that usually are along the lines of "if I did the next..." where people would outline how the next installment of a particular franchise would be if they were at the helm. I've given a few ideas in comments before that were well enough received, so I thought about doing something myself. But you know me; if there's a way to get the community involved, I'm bound to try. So here's what this is:
Each week will be open to anyone to sign up, regardless of how many so. The week will begin with a vote on Monday to determine the franchise we'll be writing about, which is also where our signups take place. Since this is a writing challenge, the idea is to sign up before you know for sure what the exact franchise will be. Once the votes tell us what franchise to write about, we will each write our own version of what the next installment of that franchise would be like if we were in charge of it. We'll each post our own ideas on our own blog, and then on Friday or Saturday I'll make a blog that links all the posts and asks for the community to vote on the winners. The winners won't really get anything, but I'll list off the winners and how many times they've won in the past on some of the weekly posts with this, so there's at least something to show your victory.
But to get back on track for the bigger point, it's a weekly or biweekly (depending on how it goes over) writing competition. The question now is, would you guys go for something like this? Not just as a spectator, but would there be anyone willing to actually participate? I'd probably cook up a solo version if nobody would be interested, but I'd rather get people involved and make a thing of it.
