When this generation began, the Xbox 360 came in two packages. One had a 20 GB hard drive, and the other did not have a hard drive. The PS3 also came in two packages, with one having a 20 GB hard drive and the other having a 60 GB hard drive.
I upgraded the hard drive years ago from my 60 GB to 160 GB, thinking it would be plenty. I have about 2 GB left, and I haven't even played The Last of Us yet and I don't have all of game installed anymore because of spacial constraints. So I did some math on it. After I added everything together between game data, save data, downloaded game size, and leftover memory, I figured out that the system software right now on my PS3 takes up approximately 21 GB.
I'll reiterate that: my system software, not counting any installed or saved games, currently takes up 21 GB of space on my hard drive, and when the system originally launched there was a model that was only 20 GB. Its competitor was only 20 GB max and had a model without a hard drive at all.
Something to think about.
