Well, by my maths we have about four to five months before the next generation of PlayStations and Xboxes release. So I think it's a good idea to go ahead and start now with something I try to do every time a console generation changes: replay every game from the dying generation that I own! Basically, I'm giving every game I own one more playthrough to revisit the stories, have some fun with multiplayer, and grab up every trophy I care to before I have to worry about fitting a new console in my gaming space.
I have my collection narrowed down (basically) to 40 games right now which I have ranked by their importance to me, but there are still some changes to be made as I get newer games. And I'll make those accommodations as they come along. For now, I'm going to tackle this backlog from my lowest ranked game all the way to my highest ranked game. And I'm inviting you guys to do it with me.
So if you're planning on getting a new console when it launches and want to give the 7th generation a special sort of farewell, or even if you just have a backlog you want to tackle while being a part of something, then join in on the fun. Give us your list of games that you'll play playing in any order you see fit, and we'll keep up with each other as we tackle our lists by posting about our progress. Maybe we can even have some get togethers when we both have the same games on our lists.
I've already begun tackling my list, and I've made some satisfactory progress. I replayed Brutal Legend and got 100% on the stats screen, I played some more of NFS: Hot Pursuit (though honestly it frustrated me too much to really dive into it), and I've replayed the single player of Starhawk and grabbed a few online trophies I've had my eye on. Next up for me is Dead Space 3, which I just plan on replaying; nothing extra for it. Below is my full list that I plan to tackle (which is eerily similar to my rankings of the PS3's games that I did a few posts ago). I'm starting at the bottom and working my way up:
