Hello everyone. From time to time I've updated a list of games I consider to be essential to hang on to once this generation ends. In the past I've never gone over 25 games in my final list, but this generation is different. Obviously this isn't the absolute final list, just where it stands for me right now. To be clear, this list isn't a ranking of the best games on the PS3, or just the highest profile or something. This is my shortlist of games that I will keep once this generation ends, because I'm one of those people that limits themselves in order to move on.
The last time I did a ranked list like this was over a year ago; February 12th, 2012 to be exact. So in the interest of making things more...interesting...I'm going to do a ^/v to show how these ranks have changed in the past year and a quarter. And just like last year, I'm not going to explain myself in this post. With 40 games to mention and more to talk about, there's just too much. So instead, I'll put up the list and I will defend my positions against your inquiries. It's more interactive that way.
The list is displayed in its current ranks, and following the game title will be the previous year's rank in parentheses. In the case of Mass Effect Trilogy, the prior rank is specifically for Mass Effect 2, since the Trilogy and ME3 were both released after last year's list was made, and the Trilogy obviously replaced ME2 in my collection. Similarly, God Of War Saga replaced GOW3. Anything with a (-) is something that was not on the list last year.

I also have a few HM nominations: NHL 2K8, Unreal Tournament III, MLB 11: The Show, and Backbreaker.
There are also plenty of games about to come out, such as The Last of Us, that will likely shake up this list something fierce. And I haven't played Bioshock: Infinite yet. My thought is that BI would probably replace the original outright, since it has the original on the disc anyways.
